On World MS Day, we raise awareness about MS across the world, and show how projects like CLAIMS are taking action. The mission of CLAIMS (2023-2027) is to address the urgent need for a data-driven treatment optimisation tool for people with MS through these key steps:
Funded by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) with nearly €12 million, the project brings together a consortium of clinical institutions, academic and pharmaceutial partners, SMEs and non-profit organisations. SYNAPSE leads both management and communication activities.

Two clinical studies are conducted within the project: RECLAIM and PROCLAIM.
RECLAIM is a retrospective real-world and clinical trial data from more than 8,000 peole with MS, as well as data from clinical trials in which people with MS participated. This combined dataset will serve as thefoundation for developing AI modelling and novel biomarker research focused on disease progression, prognosis, treatment response, and patient profiling. Because improving MS care starts with turning complex clinical data into structured, meaningful insights.
The PROCLAIM study, on the other side, explores the real-world clinical impact of AI-assisted care in MS, and has enrolled more than 150 participants across participating European sites. By combining standard clinical practice with AI-supported insights, PROCLAIM aims to evaluate how digital tools can support treatment decisions, validate AI models in prospective care settings, and contribute to more personalised disease management over time. Because improving MS care is not only about innovation. It is about proving what works in daily clinical practice.

As part of the mission of reaching the MS community, the CLAIMS project was featured in the German podcast MS-Perspektive hosted by Nele von Horsten. The project was represented by Prof. Friedemann Paul (Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin) who discussed how CLAIMS brings together AI with clinical and patient-reported data to support more personalised treatment decisions for people living with MS, with the ultimate goal of helping neurologists and people with MS to make evidence-based decisions together.

The CLAIMS (Clinical impact through AI-assisted MS care) project will run over the next 4 years to realize a companion diagnostic platform supporting the assessment and specification of disease worsening in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and making data-driven precision medicine a reality for patients with MS (pwMS).
